The Kenya Association of Technical Training Institutions (KATTI) Eastern region Sports Chairman Geoffrey Kariuki has observed that the just concluded season three regional ball games had very tough competition but congratulated the referees for fair and exceptional refereeing.
Speaking at Wote Technical Training Institute where the games were held, the Chairman who is also Tseikuru Technical and Training Institute Principal congratulated the teams that won and asked those who lost to train harder.
He noted that only six of the eleven colleges in the area participated in the games where the region excelled in men’s Rugby, Volleyball, Basketball and Handball.
“We had teams from Tseikuru, David Wambuli, Mwala, Wote, Katine and Masinga TTI. The rest that didn’t show up are young and facing teething problems but we are always encouraging them to participate in everything we do,” said Kariuki.
He encouraged the winning teams to continue practicing as they await to meet with the other institutes at the National level.
KATTI Northern region Vice Chair Justine Muindu, also Katine TTI Principal observed that the region was young but she had seen potential talents from the participating teams.

She called upon tutors to help nurture their sporting talents so as to get an edge overtheir competitors.
In summary, Wote and Katine TTI had a tie with 23 points securing position one. Tseikuru emerged position three with 13 points, Mwala was position four with 10 points, David Wambuli was position five with 8 points and Masinga held position six with 6 points.
Muindu encouraged the teams to work harder now that they are heading to the Nationals.
In men’s Basketball, Wote TTI took the number one trophy while Katine TTI took position two.
In women’s volleyball, Katine TTI secured position one followed by Tseikuru TTI.
Wote TTI secured top position in women’s Handball as Masinga TTI were the runners up.
The men’s Handball was dominated by Mwala TTI while Wote TTI followed.
The last game was men’s Rugby where Wote TTI took the lead followed by Katine TTI.
However Mr. Radindi from Masinga technical observed that the region is headed to meet tough teams in national level and they should correct technical mistakes like college identification cards accompanied by smart photos of the players.
