Uasin Gishu gubernatorial aspirant Jonathan Bii alias Koti Moja says he will increase bursary money to Ksh300 million.
According to Bii, this will ensure that more students from needy backgrounds access education.
“Once elected as governor I will increase bursary funds from the current 120 million shillings, which was set by the outgoing governor Jackson Mandago, to 300 million shillings so that needy and bright students access education,” he said.
He said he will also allocate an additional 100 million to scholarship programmes.
“In Uasin Gishu we have many needy and bright students. Such a kitty will ensure that no child stays at home just because they lack fees,” added Bii.
He noted that his administration will ensure that youths are enrolled in technical institutions for them to gain technical skills.
“I will ensure that I have taken youths to technical school to do mechanical courses such as joinery, carpentry, plumbing, building, and construction. Currently, the best paying jobs are not white collar,” he said, noting that investing in education was a way of transforming the country.
