Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has assured Nakuru County residents of restoration of security to enable education and other day to day activities to continue.
While addressing hundreds of Nakuru county residents in Mawanga village in Bahati sub county, Mr Matiang’i noted that the recent criminal happenings in the county had paralyzed many activities majorly education thus resulting to truancy.
“We have come to restore security in Nakuru county so that parents can proceed with their economic activities and teachers and students can resume going to school without fear,” said Matiang’i.
Mr Matiang’i who was accompanied by the Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai and Director of Criminal Prosecution George Kinoti said that the government will not tolerate criminals who disrupt citizens and their livelihoods..
The CS said that the government had already deployed enough security officers with adequate resources to flush out and arrest the criminals.
“We have also reshuffled all police bosses in the county including the Nakuru County Police Commander and replaced them with new officers to facilitate sweeping up of the region,” said the CS.
He further warned politicians that if found blameworthy of funding the criminal gangs, he will not hesitate to arrest and prosecute them.
In addition, the CS urged Chiefs and their assistants to actively seek and reveal information about criminal gangs and their activities in the area.
Speaking in the function, Rift Valley Regional Commissioner Maalim Mohamed promised to co-operate with the newly installed team to restore security in the county.
Also in attendance, Nakuru County Governor Lee Kinjanyui thanked Matiang’i and Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai for the measures they had put in place to restore peace.
