The Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha has said that all the 1,225,502 KCPE 2021 candidates, whose results were released on March 28, have found places in our 9,200 public schools.
While speaking after releasing the Form One Placements at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) Monday, Aprill 11, the CS heaped praises on His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta leading the cause and initiating the 100 per cent transition policy, saying that his ministry is grateful.
“I have made it glaringly clear that the Ministry will conduct a meticulous Form One selection exercise to ensure all the candidates get placed in schools they deserve. In keeping with the Government’s spirit of equity, inclusion and affirmative action, we have ensured that justice has been done to the candidates in terms of placement to various secondary schools,” said the CS.
The CS reiterated that the Government’s 100 per cent Transition Policy has emphasized strict enforcement of the constitutional right of every child in Kenya to access free and compulsory Basic Education.
In order to adhere to the policy, the CS directed Ministry of Education (MoE) officials to file accurate daily returns on the status of reporting to schools to ensure sufficient data and evidence are available ontracking those candidates who, for one reason or the other, may lag behind during the reporting period.
“I urge Principals to not admit students in NEMIS before the students report physically. Field officers should monitor admission of students in NEMIS,” added CS Magoha.
In the recently released 2021 KCPE results by Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha, 47.18 percent which represents 578,197 candidates scored between 200 and 299 marks; 25.09 percent, which is equivalent to 307,532 candidates scored between 100 and 199 marks while those who scored below 100 marks were 1,170 candidates, which is a sharp rise from the previous year that recorded 307 students.
