The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations have started and running well in Kisii County.
The opening of the examination containers was witnessed by the officer in charge of Special Needs Education at National level Mr. Rodgers Hassan.
The officer thanked all education stakeholders for cooperating in the just ended KCPE examinations and hoped KCSE will also end well.
He was flanked by Kisii County Deputy County Commissioner Mr. Wilberforce Kilonzo and other top education officials in the county.
Mr. Kilonzo assured the public about the safety of the candidates as they sit their examinations in a calm atmosphere.
“We have put our security mechanisms in place if there will be any laxity that will be seen among the officials or candidate. We will call for comparison of notes for immediate action to be taken,” he assured.
Kisii County Director of Education Mr. Pius Ngoma expressed his pleasure for the cooperation he received from parents, teachers and other education stakeholders in the county.
“My office has not received any information about any candidates who did not turn up for the examinations. If there will be any, I will inform you as the examinations progress but so far we do not have any negative report,” he briefed.
In the neighboring Nyamira County, the examination container was opened at the County Commissioner’s office under the supervision of the County Commissioner Mr. Michael Lesimam at 6.00 am.
Mr. Lesimam warned any group or individual who might try to interfere with the examinations of tough action to be taken against them.
“My officers will arrest anybody suspected to handle the examinations material illegally and they face the law,” he said.
Nyamira County Director of Education Mr. Oniface Ouko revealed that the county enrolled a tota 15,724 candidates in 194 centers.
He expressed optimism as he wished all candidates good lucky as they sat the papers.
