Charles Koech has now taken over from Joseph Sawe as the Eldoret National Polytechnic Chief Principal.
Speaking during the handing over ceremony, Koech said he will work diligently to ensure the institution gets to greater heights.
“I want to register by appreciation to the outgoing principal, council, staff and trainees for their warm welcome. I now feel at home. I join them knowing that this is a great institution that has made many strides, I also bring in an element of value addition and teamwork. I believe in working collectively to achieve institutional objectives and mandate,” said Koech.
The principal who just replaced Sawe, who is now focusing on political ambitions to be Elgeyo Marakwet Governor, called on stakeholders to help him in pushing the agenda of the institution forward.
“I want to confirm that I believe in structures, procedures and policies. I am also dedicated to duty and committed to team work. I want to call upon all stake holders to help us achieve the goals of these institutions,” he added, as he reiterated that The Eldoret national polytechnic has a robust strategic plan running from 2017 to 2022.
The principal registered his gratitude to the media for the support in giving such institution good coverage and promoting TVETS.
He said under his leadership he will ensure that programs offered in the institution are relevant, offer quality training, equity in the provision of training as well as increasing access for TVETs across country.
The outgoing chief Principal Josephat Sawe who has served the institution as registrar, deputy principal and chief principal wished the incoming principal well in his endeavors.
“I want to welcome Mr. Koech from Kaiboi Technical Training Institute to this great institution, I know he is up to the task of taking this great institution to greater heights,” he said.
Sawe says under his nine-year tenure, students enrolment increased from 5,000 to now 18,000 students who come from all parts of the country.
“We introduced 106 new programs that is; 68 technical courses and 38 business oriented courses under my tenure and we ensured that the institution got ISO certification,” he concluded.
