Parents asked to invest more in education

Kitutu Chache North Member of Parliament Jimmy Angwenyi has told parents to invest more in the education of their children.

The legislator said this while addressing parents, teachers and students of Nyakeyo Secondary School in his constituency.

“When you equip your children with quality education, you have invested in the future of the community,” he advised.

The MP said that his office through the NG-CDF gives priority in the issuance of education bursary funds to the children from poor homes and those without parents.

“I emphasize to my committee members in the CDF office to take care of children from vulnerable homes,” he added.

During the meeting that was attended by Marani Subcounty Deputy Commissioner Mr. Patrick Mulira, the parents were reminded not to keep their children at home because of lack of school fees.

Mr.Mulira reminded the principals to adhere to the directive by Education CS on not sending students home for fees but instead to consult with parents on the modalities of payment.

“Some parents retain their children at home and others send them to be employed as maids, this is against the law,” he warned.

The administrator revealed that he had agreed with the office of Marani Sub-county Director of Education to take data of the students who had not returned to school when they reopened to enable him address the issue effectively.
