The government of Kenya has appointed yet another teacher to the diplomatic service. Mr. Innocent Alloys Mogunde, the former principal of St. Pauls Amasago Secondary School has been promoted to represent Kenya as an education attaché in China.
The promotion comes barely three months after Mr. Andrew Buop, the former principal of Maseno School was elevated to represent the country in the United States of America.
Speaking shortly after learning about his appointment, the elated teacher who hails from Bonchari Constituency in Kisii County expressed his optimism saying although he never expected the blessing to knock at the time, he would agree as it was a sign of growth.
“Ask any one even a child if they wanted to grow and they will definitely tell you yes, I am one of those who will say yes and I thank God,” he asserted with a lot of excitement.
Kisii County Director of Education Mr. Pius Ngoma confirmed the appointment of the now former Amasago School principal to the position terming it as good news.
The Kenya Union of Post Primary Teachers (KUPPET) Kisii branch has lauded the government for sending one more teacher in the recent promotions to the diplomatic service.
Speaking to this reporter at Kisii town, the Executive Secretary Mr. Joseph Abincha said that the promotion of Mr. Innocent Alloys Mogunde, to the diplomatic mission abroad was a good gesture to the teaching fraternity in the country.
“This is a good sign that the government minds teachers as active people who should be recognized in the country,” said the branch executive.
Hearing about the appointment, the residents of Mogunde’s village at Kiendege near Suneka airstrip broke into song and dance, pouring praises to the Cabinet Secretary for Education Prof. George Magoha and Cabinet Secretary in the Interior Ministry Dr. Fred Matiang’i for being development ambassadors and recognizing the region on education matters.
