St. Marthias Mwitoti Secondary School in Kakamega County is facing shortage of infrastructure as classrooms are congested, the principal Denis Munyendo has disclosed.

This has forced students to sit for examinations under trees to also embracing social distance due to the fear of Corona virus spread.

The principal added that the school is overpopulated after an additional 600 form one students were enrolled.

Munyendo pleads with the government for the construction of more classrooms and dormitories among other facilities to accommodate form four candidates who are on compulsory boarding.

Besides the challenges of infrastructure and shortage of teachers, the students still manage to conduct remedial lessons during the night for revision and to cover part of the syllabus.

In last year’s KCSE, the school attained a mean grade of 6.4 where they had 400 candidates.
