Prof. Magoha Extends Form One Reporting by a Week

By Roy Hezron

Education Cabinet Secretary Prof. George Magoha has extended the ongoing Form One admissions by one week for 2020 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE).

In a circular dated August 6, 2021 to Regional and County Directors of Education, Prof. Magoha states that the extension is to allow those students who could not report by the end of Friday August 6, 2021 which was the last day slated for reporting to do so in the spirit of 100 per cent transition.

“To ensure all the 2020 KCPE candidates are admitted to Form One in the spirit of the 100 per cent transition, the Ministry had decided to extend the reporting period by one week to enable parents or guardians enroll their children in various secondary school,” said Prof. Magoha in the circular.

In efforts of ensuring this is achieved and also bearing in mind of students from poor backgrounds, Prof. Magoha has now instructed all the School Principals to admit all the learners including those who do not have full school fees and put necessary arrangements with their parents and guardians on payment modalities.

“At the same time, all principals of schools are instructed to admit all learners reporting, including those who may not have the full school fees. Principals are directed to engage parents and guardians to make arrangements for fees payment,” directed the CS.

He said that the mop up exercise to ensure 100 per cent transition will assume a multi-agency approach involving various state agencies like in the previous years, directing all the Regional and County Directors of Education to ensure elaborate plans and strategies are put in place to reach out and enroll all remaining students to secondary schools by end of the extension period.

The Form One students started reporting on August 2, 2021 to August 6, 2021 and with extension, it now means that the last day of reporting for Form one is August 13, 2021.
