Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Acting Secretary General Hesbon Otieno has said that they want to restore good working relation with Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and Ministry of Labour.Otieno, who has retained his Deputy Secretary General seat unopposed since he had no contestant in the current ongoing elections stated that immediately after the elections, they will team up to restore the union lost glory by first initiating talks with TSC”Immediately after elections, next week we are heading to TSC to initiate talks with the employer to restore good working relationship with the employer,” said Otieno, who was addressing the media at Ruaraka Sports Grounds Nairobi.Otieno further added that they are also going to encourage those members who had left the union earlier to return since they will have restored the union to its former glory.The elections which are currently ongoing under tight security has witnessed Collins Oyuu going unopposed after former Secretary General Wilson Sossion resigned yesterday.Other seats which are currently being contested include first and second national chairman, Assistant Secretary General, Assistant Treasurer, first and second national woman representative, People living with disabilities, and Trustee seats; and NEC representatives from the eight regions.Deputy National Treasurer Ali Hussein has gone unopposed and the National Chairman Patrick Karinga and National Treasurer, James Ndiku.
