The police in Nyamira county have arrested a man in connection with the killing of his nephew.
According to the chief of Kenyamware Location, Mr James Momanyi, the suspect allegedly stabbed the standard five lad on the ribs before he took to his heels. “The knife penetrated through the ribs and touched the heart,” said the chief.
Trouble started when the deceased visited his mother’s home where he met the maternal uncle. The latter asked him if he went to school. That was when some an argument arose and the uncle reportedly beat the boy several times using a rod until he became unconscious. Then he went ahead and stabbed his victim with a knife then ran away.
The irate villagers bayed for his blood as they wanted to lynch him but he ran way.
The villagers took the injured boy to Kisii Teaching and Refferal Hospitalfor treatment but he was pronounced death shortly after arrival. The hospital’s CEO, Dr Enock Ondari, identified the boy as Erick Oraro. The body was removed to the hospital’s mortuary for postmotem and further police investigations.
Keroka police station officers, confirmed that they had arrested the suspect whom they identified. He was retained at the police station for interrogation and was expected to appear in court.
After he learnt of the violent killing of the school pupil, Nyamira County Commissioner, Mr Amos Mariba, condemned the act and urged police to carry out thorough investigation into the incident.
