Students urged to focus on innovation

By Washington Okella

Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong has urged university and college students to be innovative instead of relying on scarce white collar jobs.

Speaking at Free Pentecostal Fellowship in Kenya Lukolis Church where he was chief guest during the Teso South University and College Students Association (TESUCSA)

Special General Meeting recently, Ojaamong said the government has many funds which the youth can access to earn a living instead of sitting idle after completing their studies.

“In Agriculture, my government has Agricultural Development Fund which the youth can access to venture into poultry, pig farming or other related areas they have comparative advantage,” he said.

He continued: “Hard work pays. My government recently launched small traders’ revolving fund which we plan to enhance from local sources and solicit more funding from donors.”

The students had earlier presented a memorandum to the county chief.

The Governor said most of the issues addressed in the memorandum were being executed by his administration, pledging to start Teso South Revolving Fund.
