Kisii County Education Board has appealed to politicians to honour the pledges they make during funeral gatherings.
The board chairman Professor Henry Onderi said it is good to console the bereaved but castigated those who uttered false promises to the orphaned children.
He reminded that when parents die, they leave behind many school children who need a helping shoulder to lean on.
But he regretted that most of these children dropped out of school because of lack of school fees.
“Some politicians come to the funerals, promise heaven and vanish”, said he.
He appealed to the law makers to give priority to the disadvantaged families when they when they distribute Constituency education bursary funds.
“If our legislators cannot help from their pockets, I request them to use their offices to support the poor”, he appealed.
