- Mrs Linet Pino Sati has announced her retirement as Chief Principal of Asumbi Girls High School after over a decade of service, effective September 30, 2026.
- Under her leadership, the school has recorded strong academic performance, including a 2025 KCSE mean score of 9.78 and 100% university transition.
The long-serving Chief Principal of Asumbi Girls High School, Mrs Linet Pino Sati, OGW, is set to retire at the end of this month, September 30, 2026, after over a decade at the helm of the national school.
Mrs Sati, who surprised her teachers this week by calling them into her office and rewarding them for their dedication, will be remembered as the first lay principal in the history of Asumbi Girls.
Mrs Sati took over the leadership of Asumbi Girls High School in 2014 from Sr Josephine Opiyo, who had attained retirement age. Before her transfer to Asumbi, she served as Principal of Rae Girls High School.
In the over 50-year history of Asumbi Girls High School, which was founded by the Catholic Church in 1965, Mrs Sati is the only principal who is not a Catholic sister. The school is located in Rangwe Sub-County, Homa Bay County, and is classified as a National Boarding Girls school.
During her tenure, she oversaw major infrastructural development, including improvement of dormitories, classrooms and laboratories, which saw the learner population grow to over one thousand.
Under her leadership, Asumbi Girls has remained a top performer. In the 2025 KCSE, the school recorded a mean score of 9.78 (B+) with 914 candidates and 100% university transition.

Mrs Sati was honoured with the Order of the Grand Warrior (OGW) by the President for her distinguished service in education.
Ahead of her official exit on September 30, Mrs Sati invited all teaching and non-teaching staff to her office, where she appreciated each one personally and issued tokens of appreciation, describing them as the pillars behind Asumbi’s success.
In a brief interaction with Education News, the calm-looking principal sighed and said, “This far is from God.”
Teachers who spoke to this publication described her as a motherly, consultative and firm administrator who maintained discipline and academic excellence.
She is expected to officially hand over at the end of the month to usher in new leadership.
