Elected leaders have been urged to help the government implement its policies as well as come up with ways of enhancing health and sanitation in schools in a bid to address school unrest.

Migori county branch KUPPET Assistant executive secretary Rolex Owino has blamed lack of proper learning environments for the recently witnessed unrest in schools in the country among other challenges.

Owino who has also declared interests in the central Sakwa Ward member of county assembly 2022 race noted the need for education stakeholders led by the government to ensure infrastructural development of schools.

“Most students lack motivation in education and therefore they have more time to think of creating tension and burning of school property. Elected leaders must come up with necessary strategies to improve the conditions in schools especially within the town sectors to fit urban standards required in schools,”  said Owino.

“As an advocate for teachers, I wish to make it clear to the government to understand that the tutors are currently not working in a good environment.” he added.
