913 Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) centres in Kwale County are set to benefit from a free porridge programme.
Speaking to Education News from Kwale town recently, Kwale County Executive Committee Member (CECM) in charge of Education Mrs. Mishi Kaole said that the county government has set aside Ksh 28 million for the programme.
She said that the programme is meant to attract and retain around 59,822 ECDE learners in the 20 political wards of the county in a bid to ensure all children access education.
Kaole warned that anybody found tampering or manipulating the programme for selfish gains will be arrested and prosecuted.
She asked parents in the region to enroll all their school-going children without fail for their personal benefit and that of the county.
The CECM noted that the county government has and will continue to prioritize the education sector in the region.
