9 pupils hospitalized after falling off a tree at school

Nine pupils from Keteng Primary School in Nandi Hills, Nandi East were on Wednesday hospitalized after falling off a tree they were picking fruits from within the school compound.

It’s reported that one of the branches on which the pupils had stepped broke, sending them down where other pupils were standing thus injuring them all.

The school staff immediately responded to the situation and provided initial assistance to the injured pupils before rushing them to Nandi Hills County Hospital for further medical attention.

Nandi Hills County Hospital Medical Superintendent Richard Chepkwony who confirmed the incident said the learners were in good condition and had responded well to medication.

“We have attended to most of them who had bruises and soft tissues injuries around their eyes.

Another pupil who had complained of a headache after hitting the ground has been examined through X-ray and she is in stable condition,” Chepkwony said.

Some of the learners have been treated and released. One who was seriously injured is under observation at the hospital.
