Itibo residents have been shocked after waking up to a 17-year-old Form Four girl being gangraped by two men from the same village in Nyamira County
According to the residents, the Victim, who is a candidate for the KCSE 2023 had been sent for an errand by her mother at 7am when she met with the perpetrators.
They said that the suspects who are from her village, dragged her and raped her in a latrine after which they fled the scene leaving the girl crying for help.
Local villagers rushed to her aid and took her to Nyamira Teaching and Referral Hospital for medical attention as the victim’s mother reported the incident to the police.
Upon reaching the scene, the Police Officers discovered an empty bottle, and one of the girl’s sandals.
The Nyamira County Police Boss James Mitugo confirmed the incident and assured the public that his officers are actively working to locate and apprehend the suspects.
He further urged anyone with information on the whereabouts of the suspects to report emphasizing that security is a collective responsibility.
However, efforts to contact the director of education for Nyamira County’s Zachary Mutuiri, have been futile.
