Former Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Secretary General Wilson Sosion is among 33 candidates shortlisted for interviews to fill two vacant positions at the Teachers Service Commission (TSC).
According to a notice published by the Selection Panel, the interviews for the TSC commissioner positions will be conducted between Tuesday, June 2 and Friday, June 5, 2026.
The panel said the recruitment process is being conducted “pursuant to provisions of Article 237(1)(2)(3) of the Constitution of Kenya, 2010 and Article 8 (6) of the Teachers Service Commission Act (No. 20 of 2012).”
The notice further stated that the Selection Panel had “received applications from eligible applicants and shortlisted Thirty-Three (33) candidates to appear as indicated below for interview for the position of two Members, Teachers Service Commission (TSC).”
Sosion, a former nominated MP and one of the country’s most outspoken education stakeholders, is scheduled to appear before the panel on Thursday, June 4, 2026 at 9:00 am.
The former KNUT boss from Bomet County will be among eight candidates appearing before the panel on the third day of interviews.
Other candidates lined up for interviews on June 4 include Antonina Lentolijoni from Samburu at 8:00 am, CPA. Sahara Kunow Yusuf from Wajir at 10:00 am and John Kwevi Meng’wa (PWD) from Bungoma at 11:00 am.
CPA. Florence T. Biiya from Kilifi is scheduled for noon while Joel Mwita Daniel, CPM from Migori will appear at 2:00 pm.
Anne W. Gachoya from Laikipia is expected before the panel at 3:00 pm while Dr. Garise Bakari Omera, PhD from Tana River, will conclude the day’s interviews at 4:00 pm.
Full Interview Schedule
The interviews will begin on Tuesday, June 2, with Scholastica Seem Matunge from Laikipia appearing at 8:00 am.
Others scheduled for the day include Daniel Mwangi Karomo from Kajiado, Japheth Mbithi Kivuitu from Machakos, Ibrahim Gedi Mumin, OGW from Mandera and Dr. Patrick Wakaba Mathu, PhD from Kiambu.
Also listed are Fredrick Josphat Kibuti Nyaga from Embu, Charity Rebecca Wako Kagwi from Nairobi and Ali Jimal Ahmed (PWD) from Wajir.
On Wednesday, June 3, the panel will interview Hon. Abdulaziz Ali Farah from Mandera, Areba Omwoyo Samba from Nyamira, Pamela Auma Ahago from Siaya and John Mutegi Muriungi from Tharaka Nithi.
Others appearing that day are William Emoru Ejore (PWD) from Turkana, Gilbert Vidija Musalia Edebe from Vihiga, Amb. Simon W. Nabukwesi, CBS from Bungoma, Daniel Ndungu Wakenye from Nyandarua and Dr. Samuel Obudho, PhD from Homa Bay.
The notice also indicated that interviews would continue on Friday, June 5, 2026.
The Selection Panel noted that “the list of ALL applications received can be accessed on the Ministry of Public Service, Human Capital Development and Special Programmes website.”
It further stated that the panel had “considered all the applications received and shortlisted the following candidates to appear for interviews.”
The recruitment process comes at a time when TSC remains at the centre of major education reforms, including implementation of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC), teacher deployment changes and staffing rationalisation across schools.

Sosion’s appearance on the shortlist is expected to attract attention within the education sector due to his long history in union leadership and teacher advocacy.
