The Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT), Western Region, has thrown its weight behind the incumbent national leadership, joining Rift Valley, Eastern, Central, and Nairobi regions in a united resolution ahead of the union’s Special Delegates Conference.
Meeting at Planet Gardens Hotel in Kakamega, the council unanimously endorsed the current office bearers for a second term, signalling continuity and stability within the union’s top ranks. The decision aligns the Western Region firmly with the pro-Collins Oyuu faction, which has been consolidating support across the country.
Regional leaders said the endorsement reflects confidence in the team’s ability to safeguard teachers’ interests and maintain progress achieved under the current administration. The move also strengthens the union’s collective voice as it prepares for the upcoming elections.
The Western Region further confirmed its backing of National Executive Council (NEC) members from the area, who will proceed unopposed. Leaders described the endorsements as a show of unity and solidarity, ensuring the region maintains strong representation at the national level.
