West Pokot education fraternity mourns JSS teacher

Teachers and education officials in West Pokot mourn JSS teacher Peter Long’ura, remembered for his dedication to Agriculture, sports, and community service.

The West Pokot County teachers, teaching fraternity, Education officers and Education stakeholders are mourning the passing on of a teacher in Siyoi Zone.

Peter Long’ura, a Junior Secondary teacher at Kapchila Comprehensive School in Siyoi Zone, in Kapenguria Constituency, was an Agriculture teacher at the school and a team player in the Agriculture Department.

“Peter played a key role in the school, including the establishment of crop farming and management in the school,” said Thomas Otieno, the Deputy Head of Institution at Kapchila Comprehensive School.

“Peter was also a great pillar in Co-curricular activities from school level to the highest level, ” said Mr Geofrey Kimtai, a sports official in West Pokot County.

Kimtai said the deceased was part of a strong team of dedicated teachers and a cheering squad that always accompanied the West Pokot County winning team at all levels.

Kimtai also said that the late was a community mobiliser whenever there was any activity to be undertaken in the community.

“Actually, the late Long’ura was part of the strong teachers’ cheering squad that accompanied the West Pokot County team that participated in Maralal in Samburu County for the Regional Competitions,” he added.

The funeral has been scheduled to take place on Monday, November 17, at Sinendeni, Siyoi Sub-location, Kapenguria in West Pokot County.

A handful of teachers, education officials and stakeholders, as well as politicians are expected to attend.
