Uasin Gishu County is ready to welcome Junior Secondary School (JSS), Director of Education Muriuki Harrison has said.
Speaking to the press in Eldoret, he said they expected all the classes to be complete in no more than a week.
117 classrooms were allocated to the county in Phase 1, even as the 94 allocated in Phase 2 are taking off.
He said the county has over 150 private schools which have been encouraged to construct a laboratory as a minimum requirement for the establishment of JSS.
“All public secondary schools will host the junior secondary, and we have 150 private primary and secondary schools which are ready to host these children. We encourage more private schools to come on board for us to accommodate more,” he said.
“We are also bringing on board one of our biggest primary schools (Hill School). We are well prepared and our children at Grade 6 are picking their choices of both private and public schools,” he added.
He said they have taken teachers through training, with the first phase having ended as they await phase two. Over 1000 teachers have already undergone the training.
