VTC courses uptake on rise in Kisumu as 6,135 trainees enrol

The Kisumu County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Education, Technical Training, Innovation, and Social Services John Awiti has underscored the growing demand for technical education and vocational training.

Awiti noted that the county has witnessed a remarkable increase in Vocational Training Colleges trainee enrollment up to 6,135 students.

“This significant milestone not only reflects the growing importance of skilled labour in our society but also underscores the pivotal role played by our department in shaping the future of our workforce,” said Awiti.

He noted that the department has prioritised recruiting additional trainers while retooling the existing ones to improve the quality of the skilled artisans produced in various technical fields.

Speaking at the Kisumu Youth Rotary Training Centre, Awiti emphasised the county’s commitment to supporting the training needs of the vocational centres including the well-being of the students.
