Hospitality students at Murang’a University of Technology (MUT) organised a Tourism, Culture and Food Festival that attracted hundreds of investors.

The Food festival themed “African Masquerade Dinner” was organized to celebrate and appreciate the rich diverse cultures in Kenya.

The festival was dined in collaboration with Tamarind Tree and Nokras hotels that helped the students from the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management to prepare the dishes.

William Kinuthia from Rapid Camp said the students proved their worth as they demonstrated the highest experience in food preparation.

“It was the first edition but it was done well, hoping the same will be repeated later in the year as part of supporting the students to have experience in the hospitality industry,” said Kinuthia.

The Dean of Hospitality and Tourism Management School, Prof Ray Mutinda underscored the importance of the partnership between varsity and the leading hotels to provide the students with the vital experience.

“All hospitality training institutions should find ways of integrating the industry into their training programmes in bid to give the best,” said Mutinda.

A hospitality student Mercy Njuguna said they presented cultural dances, traditional dishes that met the African heritage.
