Students at Utumishi Boys High School will proceed on a short break after the school’s administration announced that learners would be released to their parents and guardians today, 6th June.
In a message sent to parents, the school assured families that all students were safe and that learning had continued normally.
The administration said the decision to release learners was reached after consultations with relevant stakeholders.
Parents and guardians have been requested to pick their sons from the school beginning at 8:00 a.m.
The announcement comes at a time when schools across the country are experiencing heightened tension and cases of student unrest.
It also follows the recent tragedy at neighbouring Utumishi Girls Academy, where a dormitory fire claimed the lives of 16 students and left more than 70 others injured.

The two institutions share a common boundary and the incident at Utumishi Girls has heightened anxiety among parents, guardians, and education stakeholders.
However, Utumishi Boys High School assured parents that all its students remain safe and that learning has been progressing well.
The school thanked parents and guardians for their cooperation and indicated that further communication regarding the resumption of classes will be provided in due course.
