The University of Kabianga has cancelled examination results for students who sat the MAT 201 – Integral Calculus examination following a decision by the University Senate over examination malpractice.
In a notice dated August 13, 2026, the Dean of the School of Science and Technology, Dr Joyce Kiplimoo, informed students that the results of the examination had been cancelled after the Senate established that the paper was affected by examination malpractice.
The university said the decision will affect students who had sat for the examination, with the institution directing them to prepare to retake the paper when the unit is next offered.
According to the notice, affected students will sit for the examination when MAT 201 is next offered in the first year, second semester of the 2026/2027 academic year.
Special arrangement for graduating students
The university, however, made a special arrangement for students who are expected to graduate and had not sat for the paper.
The notice states that graduating students who did not sit for the examination will be allowed to undertake a special examination during the August 2025/2026 special examination period.
The move comes as universities continue to enforce examination rules aimed at protecting the integrity and credibility of academic assessments.
The cancellation means students affected by the decision will have to make alternative arrangements for completing the course unit, depending on their academic status.
Students directed to prepare for retake
The university has urged the affected students to take note of the new examination arrangements and plan accordingly.
The notice was addressed to all students in the School of Science and Technology and signed by Dr Kiplimoo in her capacity as Dean of the school.

The institution did not provide further details in the notice on the nature of the examination malpractice that prompted the Senate to cancel the results.
