UK scholarship commission invites applications for PhD, Masters scholarships

The Commonwealth Scholarship Commission (CSC) in the United Kingdom is offering 18 full PhD and 19 Masters scholarships to Kenyan citizens for the academic year 2024.

These scholarships can be utilized at any approved UK University under the CSC’s part-funding agreement.

For Masters programmes, applicants must provide proof of Kenyan citizenship and hold a Bachelor’s degree with at least a second-class upper division from a recognized university,

They must submit supporting statements from two referees, present a proposal demonstrating the potential impact on Kenya’s development and outline a high-quality study plan.

PhD candidates should also show proof of Kenyan citizenship and possess a Masters degree from a recognized university

They should also secure supporting statements from two referees, and additionally obtain a supporting statement from a UK institution supervisor.

The applicants must also submit a proposal showcasing the potential impact on Kenya’s development and provide a quality study plan.

The eligible fields of study include Agriculture, Healthcare, Housing and Settlement, Digital and Creative Economy, and transforming Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises.

To apply, interested candidates have been advised to complete the online application at the CSC website (https://cscuk.fcdo.gov.uk/advicetoapplicants), download and print the form, then submit it electronically to the CSC.

Applicants can also download the Standard Scholarship Application Form (SSAF) from the Ministry of Education website, complete it, attach the required certified supporting documents, and submit three sets of hard copy of the SSAF, along with the CSC application form, to the Directorate of Higher Education at the Ministry of Education in Nairobi, or deliver it in person to Teleposta Towers, 27th floor, room 2702, between 8 am and 5 pm.

Applications must reach the Ministry by 5 pm on October 19, 2023.

Only shortlisted candidates will receive notifications via email or phone call.
