The Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) and the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) are scheduled to hold a high-level consultative meeting on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, to initiate negotiations for the next phase of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) covering the period from 2025 to 2029.
Acting Commission Secretary Evaleen J. Mitei, in a formal letter addressed to KNUT Secretary General Mr. Collins Oyuu, extended an official invitation on behalf of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) to attend a crucial meeting scheduled for 9:00 am at the Commission Chairman’s Boardroom on the third floor of the TSC Tower in Nairobi,
“The Commission invites you to a consultative meeting on CBA 2025–2029 on Tuesday, 1st July, 2025 at 9am at the Commission Chairman’s Boardroom – 3rd floor Tower building,” the letter reads.

KNUT is expected to table proposals that reflect the demands and concerns of its members, particularly regarding salary increments, promotions, improved working conditions, and teacher welfare.
The outgoing 2021–2025 CBA, which focused mainly on non-monetary benefits following a government freeze on pay reviews, drew criticism from teachers who expected salary adjustments to match rising living costs.
KNUT has since vowed to push for a stronger deal in the next CBA, including meaningful pay raises across all job groups, especially for classroom teachers.
Education stakeholders will be closely watching, as the outcome of these negotiations could significantly impact the morale and performance of public school teachers.
