Teachers in Siaya County have asked the Teachers’ Service Commission (TSC) to reconsider its recent move to de-register KNUT and Kuppet officials who joined politics.
TSC had written to KNUT Secretary General Wilson Sossion who is currently a nominated MP and his Kuppet counterpart Omboko Milemba who is the MP for Emuhaya informing them that they are no longer teachers.
The TSC through its Chief Executive Officer Nancy Macharia had indicated that it decided to terminate the two MPs’ service as teachers with effect from 15 January 2018, a matter that the Siaya teachers led by KNUT Siaya branch executive secretary Mr. Gilbert Ndolo have strongly opposed.
Ndolo stated that by deregistering the union officials, TSC is only trying to play politics with a view to jeopardize the implementation of the Collective Bargain Agreement (CBA) which was signed with the teachers’ unions last year.
