The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) will tomorrow, November 2, 2025, open its online wealth declaration portal, paving the way for thousands of teachers in public service to file their income, assets and liability statements as legally required.

According to TSC guidelines, the exercise will run until December 31, 2025 to pave way for all teachers to file their wealth.

In its directive, the commission reminded all teachers under its payroll to comply with the Public Officer Ethics Act, which mandates government employees to declare their wealth every two years.

However, intern teachers have been exempted from this declaration cycle.

TSC emphasized that teachers must ensure accuracy and honesty while submitting their declarations through the official online portal, further warning that attempts to give false information or failure to declare by the deadline could result in legal consequences.

Under the Public Officer Ethics Act, failure to make the required declaration can attract a fine of up to Ksh1 million, imprisonment for up to one year, or both.

The commission has urged school heads and institutional administrators to ensure staff in their respective stations comply with the directive to avoid penalties.

The portal has been equipped to handle the increased traffic expected throughout the two-month declaration window.

Teachers are encouraged to log in early to avoid last-minute system congestion and ensure timely completion of the process.

TSC has further advised teachers to retain a copy of their acknowledgment slip after successfully submitting their forms, for personal records and future reference.

The wealth declaration exercise remains a key accountability requirement within Kenya’s public sector, aimed at promoting integrity, transparency and responsible public service stewardship.
