The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is expected to announce a major teacher replacement exercise at any time following the completion of nationwide data collection by its field officers.
TSC Chairperson Dr Jamleck Muturi confirmed that the commission has finalised the verification and consolidation of staffing data from schools across the country, paving the way for the advertisement of vacancies.
Dr Muturi said the data collection exercise was essential to determine the exact number of teachers who need to be replaced due to factors such as retirement, natural attrition, resignations, and other exits from the service.
“We have concluded the data collection process. Replacement of teachers will be advertised anytime from now,” Dr Muturi stated.
The impending vacancies are expected to benefit both primary and post-primary institutions, with many schools reporting staffing gaps that have stretched available teachers.
The education stakeholders have been calling for timely replacements to avoid disruptions in learning, especially in Junior Secondary Schools.

The announcement is likely to generate significant interest among unemployed teachers across the country, many of whom have been awaiting recruitment opportunities since the start of the year.
Once the advertisement is released, applicants will be required to submit their applications through the official TSC online portal.
The commission is expected to issue further guidelines in the coming days.
