TSC reveals the day of paying July salaries to teachers amid new pay structure

TSC Acting CEO Eveleen Mitei.

Kenyan teachers will experience a slight delay in receiving their July salaries due to the implementation of a new salary structure under the 2025–2026 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has confirmed.

Traditionally paid by the 26th of each month, teachers will now receive their salaries by Friday, August 1, 2025, as the TSC finalises adjustments to align with revised pay scales and allowances under the new agreement.

According to insider sources, the Commission is taking extra time to ensure that all calculations are accurate before disbursing payments.

The CBA, though not fully disclosed, is expected to feature salary increments and enhanced benefits to improve teachers’ welfare in light of inflation and rising living costs.

The TSC has appealed for calm and understanding, assuring teachers that the delay is necessary to ensure proper implementation of the agreed terms.

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has inked a landmark 2025‑2029 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with Kenya’s three central unions—KNUT, KUPPET and KUSNET—worth approximately KSh 33.7 billion and benefiting public school teachers.

The deal, signed in mid-July, includes salary increases of up to 29.5 per cent across job grades. The lowest-paid teachers (Grade B5) will see their pay rise from approximately KSh 23,000 to roughly KSh 29,000, while top-tier teachers (Grade D5) will earn up to KSh 167,415 per month.
