TSC extends deadline for recruitment application by 24 hours

Teachers Service Commission CEO, Dr Nancy Macharia.

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has extended the deadline for the recruitment of 46,000 teaching positions advertised earlier by 24 hours due to technical problems with its online portal.

The recruitment, aimed at addressing teacher shortages across Kenya, is seeking to fill vacancies for 6,000 teachers in primary schools, 39,550 in junior secondary schools and 450 in secondary schools.

Despite the extension, however, some teachers led by Jane Mutheu from Machakos, are still dissatisfied. Mutheu expressed frustration, stating that she had hoped for at least a week-long extension considering the difficulties faced in navigating the application process.

Mutheu said that many applicants were struggling with accessing the online portal due to high traffic and internet challenges, especially for teachers in remote areas.
