TSC announces vacancies for 20, 000 internship posts

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has advertised 20,000 vacancies for teacher interns in public primary schools and Junior Secondary Schools (JSS) in efforts to curb teacher and support the implementation of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).

In an advertisement appearing in dailies on Wednesday, TSC said that some 2, 000 of the interns will be placed in public primary school while 18,000 will be posted to Junior Secondary School (JSS).

“The Teacher Internship Programme is a one-year programme meant to equip and sustain competencies of persons entering the teaching service,” said the Commission.

TSC also announced that the teacher interns attached to primary schools will be eligible for a monthly stipend of Ksh15,000 while those attached to JSS will be eligible for a monthly stipend of Ksh20,000.

Interested and qualified candidates are encouraged to submit their applications online through the TSC website – www.tsc.go.ke under “Careers” or through – teachersonline.tsc.go.ke with the deadline being July 18, 2023.

Interested applicants for the JSS intern post should at least have a Diploma in Education with a minimum Grade of C+ and C+ in two teaching subjects in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations, has to be a Kenyan citizen and registered as a teacher by TSC.

Subsequently, for the primary school intern post, one is required to be a P1 Certificate holder, has to be a registered teacher with TSC and has to be a Kenyan citizen.

Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) and teachers from TVET institutions have also been encouraged to apply.
