The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has announced a fresh round of Principal transfers affecting several top-performing schools in the Nyanza Region, marking one of the most extensive leadership reshuffles in recent months.

At Nyakach Girls’ High School, Principal Dr. Millicent Alaka has been redeployed to the high-ranking Pangani Girls’ High School in Nairobi. Dr. Alaka leaves Nyakach after a tenure defined by ambitious academic reforms and internal friction.

Her proposal to scrap the school’s historic sponsorship programme for talented girls triggered pushback from teachers and long-time supporters, despite her efforts to tighten academic discipline and strengthen the school’s performance profile.

Taking over at Nyakach Girls is Chief Principal Peninah Oketch from Sega Girls’ High School, a seasoned administrator known for her firm management style and strong academic track record. Her entry is expected to calm internal tensions and re-centre the school’s academic strategy.

In additional changes affecting girls’ institutions, Migingo Girls’ High School Principal, Ms. Irine Mboya, has been transferred to Rae Girls’ High School, where she will continue serving as principal.

Significant movements have also been recorded in boys’ schools. Ringa Boys’ High School Principal, Mr. Thomas Otieno, has been posted to Orero Boys’ High School, replacing long-serving education stalwart Mr. Dickens Bula, who proceeds to retirement after decades of service. Mr. Bula leaves behind a legacy of consistency and strong academic culture at Orero.

At Otieno Oyoo Boys’ High School, Mr. George Onyango from St. Mary’s Ukwala Boys has taken over as the New Principal. He replaces Mr. Boaz Adit, who has been reassigned to Ambira High School.

To fill the vacancy created at Ringa Boys by Mr. Otieno’s departure, TSC has deployed Mr. Joseph Ayieko, formerly of Agora Mixed Secondary School, signalling a strategic move to sustain the school’s emerging academic momentum.

The reshuffles come as part of TSC’s wider effort to strengthen leadership, address performance gaps, and realign management in key institutions across the country. Education observers say the impact of these changes will become clearer in the coming academic cycles as the new principals settle into their roles and set new priorities for their schools.
