A female nursing student was yesterday stabbed to death by a fellow nurse girl after a heated domestic altercation in Makindu, Makueni County,

According the reports, the three, all second-year nursing students at Goshen Medical College in Thika had just completed their clinical attachment at Makindu Sub-County Hospital and decided to mark the milestone with a night out when a sudden altercation arose.

“We had gone out to celebrate our last day of attachment,” said Mary Wanjiku, one of the students. She said that she left her colleagues to retire home, only to wake up to horrific news.

“In the morning, I learned that my classmate, Gloria, had been stabbed to death. She was a close friend,” she said.

Investigators say trouble began shortly after the trio returned to their rented house in Makindu Township. A dispute reportedly erupted over attempts to lock the victim out of the room, a quarrel that quickly escalated.

Neighbors were shaken awake by screams as the confrontation intensified.

The police have so far questioned a boda boda rider who ferried the students from a popular local club along with a neighbor who recorded the scuffle on a mobile phone.

Doctors at Makindu Sub-County Hospital confirmed she died from a stab wound to the neck.

Makindu Sub-County Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. Emmanuel Laiposha said the main suspect, also a nursing student, is currently being treated for knife injuries under police guard.

“She is in a stable condition and will be handed over to the police once she is cleared medically,” Dr. Laiposha said.

Police have arrested the third student, identified as Sharon Muteti, for questioning as they piece together the sequence of events that led to the fatal stabbing.

Detectives believe alcohol may have played a role in the altercation. They are reviewing the video evidence and waiting to record formal statements from more witnesses.
