The National Assembly Committee on Education elects new Vice Chairperson

Kabondo Kasipul MP Eve Obara congratulated by Committee Chair MP Julius Melly after being elected vice chair.

The National Assembly Committee on Education has elected Kabondo Kasipul MP Eve Obara as its Vice Chairperson. The MP, who was the sole nominee for the position, was declared elected unopposed in accordance with the Standing Orders of the National Assembly.

Standing Order 179(12) stipulates that if only one candidate is nominated for election as chairperson or vice-chairperson, the Clerk shall declare that candidate elected without the need for a vote.

In her remarks, Obara expressed gratitude to her colleagues for their support and pledged to work diligently in addressing the challenges facing the education sector.

“I want to thank my colleagues for their support. The Education Committee is instrumental in driving policy for the education sector. I will support the Committee as we address the numerous challenges facing the sector, from ECD centers to funding challenges in our universities,” she stated.
