Term Two calendar: Vibrant mix of academics, sports, and music festivals

Term Two in the academic year is a lively period filled with academic rigour and co-curricular activities. Beginning tomorrow and ending on August 1, 2025, the calendar will offer a balanced mix of classroom learning and extracurricular engagements that enhance students’ holistic development.

Term Two is 14 weeks, with a mid-term break from June 25 to June 29. It ends on August 1.

The term includes the Kenya Music Festival, various sports competitions, and the highly anticipated East Africa Music, Dance & Drama Festival.

These events shape students’ social and cultural experiences, giving them opportunities to showcase their talents.

Academic schedules

  • Opening Date: Tomorrow
  • Half-Term Break: June 25–29, 2025
  • Closing Date: August 1, 2025
  • August Holiday: August 4–22, 2025

Co-Curricular Activities

Secondary Schools Sports (Under 18)

  • Dates: July 26 – August 3, 2025
  • Venue: Afraha Stadium, Nakuru
  • Sports: Soccer, Volleyball, Netball, Rugby 7s, Basketball 3×3, Badminton, Tennis
  • Clinic: July 26–28
  • Arrival: July 27
  • Opening Ceremony: July 28
  • Action Days: July 29 – August 2
  • Closing Ceremony: August 2
  • Departure: August 3

These games bring together secondary schools nationwide to compete in various sports disciplines.

Kenya Music Festival

  • Dates: August 1–14, 2025
  • Venue: Meru School and Kaaga Girls, Meru
  • Arrival: August 1
  • Opening Ceremony: August 2
  • Action Days: August 2–10
  • Gala Concert: August 11–12
  • State Concert: August 13
  • Departure: August 14

The Kenya Music Festival is a highlight of Term Two. It showcases the rich musical talents of students across the country.

East Africa Music, Dance & Drama Festival

  • Dates: August 15–25, 2025
  • Host City: Arusha, Tanzania
  • Arrival: August 16
  • Action Days: August 18–23
  • Departure: August 24

Following the national festival,  students participate in the regional East Africa festival, representing the country in various cultural performances.

After the August holiday, schools will reopen for Term Three on August 25, 2025. This term runs for nine weeks until October 24, 2025.

With a balanced structure of academic learning, extracurricular activities, and well-timed breaks, Term Two of 2025 promises to be an exciting and fulfilling term for all. The collective efforts in nurturing well-rounded individuals will undoubtedly contribute to developing future leaders who excel in academic and co-curricular pursuits.
