Teams clear paths for the regionals in ball games for Nyamira

Part of the action in Nyamira as teams fight for ticket to regional competitions.

Nyamira County’s Term Two ball games kicked off in a sparkle at Kiendege Secondary school as teams made an account of themselves, with soccer being the main attraction.

The teams made their intentions clear as the scorelines widened with each passing game, and in no time the contenders for regional competitions will be known.

In soccer boys, Pool A were Matutu PAG, Nyansiongo Boys and Riomego.

On day one, Nyansiongo overcame Matutu PAG 2-0, but were walloped 3-0 by Riomego.

In pool B were paraded Gekomoni, Gekano Boys and Mwongori Mixed, while C had Gekendo Mixed, Gesure, Nyakeore and Nyaibasa.

Gekano beat Mwongori 2-0 before sharing the spoils 2-2 with Gekomoni. Gekendo beat Gesure 2-1 as Nyaibasa gave Gesure a 1-0 hiding and drew 0-0 with Gesure.

In girls Soccer, Masosa won 2-0 against Mwongori as Riyabe cruised past Tombe 5-0 in Pool A, while Geke beat Riang’ombe 2-0 as Omoyo went into a draw of 0-0 with Motagara.

According to Nyamira Secondary Schools Sports Association Secretary Hesborn Okerio, the semifinals are expected today as the games come to the business end for a ticket to the regionals.
