Kisii County Secondary Schools Sports Secretary Mr.Walter Ontweka has told teachers to remain devoted to their work by embracing the teachers’ Code of Conduct.

Mr. Ontweka was speaking at Ekerubo Christian Child Fund (CCF) to parents and education stakeholders where he presided over celebrations to mark the World Teachers Day (WTD).

He noted that one could be a teacher in many ways apart from being in the classroom.

“You can be a teacher who brings change to society by the way you dress, speak or organize your family,” he said.

Ontweka asked the teachers to discover latent talents in their pupils and find ways of making the learners realize them.

The school marked the day by assessing the output of their learners.

“We assessed them to ascertain how much they can put into practice what they have absorbed,” said Mrs Alice Mokeira, the head teacher.

At Eberege Secondary School, teachers led by career master Mr. Nixon Matwetwe took time to explain to their students the importance of relevant career choices.

He further stressed on the importance of embracing Christian principles for success.

Saying that teaching is a noble profession, the teacher asked his colleagues to remain loving and empathetic towards their students.
