Teachers protest against same sex court ruling

Kenya Union of Post Primary Education (KUPPET) has condemned the Supreme Court ruling allowing members of the LGBTQ+ community the right to association, which may initiate same-sex marriages in the country.

Speaking in Kisii County, Branch Executive Secretary Joseph Abincha rebuked the apex Court for allowing the controversial ruling.

“While the law is there to govern citizens, its custodians should consider the people’s cultural beliefs before making decisions on sensitive matters,” he said.

The Unionist said that same sex relationships and unions are foreign to African values and accepting it will be tantamount to initiating an eternal loss of identity.

He said that if the practice will be allowed in the country, it will ruin the lives of the youth in schools especially those in Universities who have less institutional and social restrictions.

Abincha called on all religious groups in the country to condemn deviant sexual behaviours.

“The bible instructs marriage between man and woman only and any other marriage contrary to this is violation of God’s law,” he added.

He further urged all teachers and parents to hold a firm stance and sensitize their children against immorality.
