Teachers in Nakuru told to observe health regulations for safety of learners

Teachers in all schools in Nakuru County have been urged to adhere to public health regulations and improve the standards of hygiene for the safety of learners.

Nakuru County TSC Director Japheth Kariuki said due to heavy rains in most parts of the county, public health regulations should be strictly followed to avoid outbreak of waterborne diseases and others caused by poor hygiene.

The director said the lives and health of school community is very important and that is why they are concerned.

“We request our teachers, school staff and learners to ensure a high standard of hygiene is maintained and that public health regulations are adhered to for safety,” said Kariuki.

He said the schools have a very short term in which the syllabus has to be covered and school programmes should continue uninterrupted, encouraging school heads to ensure that facilities are safe for learners and teachers.

He was speaking in his office in Nakuru City, where he also urged parents and the Ministry of Health to work with schools to ensure health standards are maintained.

Most parts of Nakuru County were affected by the recent heavy rains which caused floods and destroyed property.
