Teachers across the country are disgruntled after it emerged that politicians and senior government officers are going around the villages issuing employment forms from TSC to unemployed teachers.
For the past week, the media has been awash with videos and clips of Members of Parliament issuing employment forms and congratulating those who had struggled to get the rare letters from them.
Education News has learnt that the letters are legit, meaning that they emanate from TSC. After receiving the coveted form, the teacher is advised to visit the nearest TSC sub-county office for directions on filling it out by the sub-county director.
After stamping and appending the signature, the sub-county director advises the teacher to return the document to the politician’s agent and forward it to the Commission’s head offices at Upper Hill.
At the beginning of the term, the teacher is expected to report to the nearest TSC office for official posting.

A group of teachers who have received the forms so far were quick to admit that the process is genuine. They already have appointment letters directing them to report to schools in May at the beginning of the second term. They also pointed out that one has to be ‘connected’ to be considered.
“My cousin works as a personal assistant to our Member of Parliament; that’s how it wasn’t hard for me to get the form,” said Judy, one of the beneficiaries.
As TSC surrenders its employment mandate to politicians and senior government officers, teachers on the payroll are beginning to develop jitters over their promotions. They are now claiming that nothing will stop the same politicians from influencing those who get promoted by the Commission.
“Since everything in the commission is now in the hands of the politicians, we are no longer guaranteed fair promotions,” claimed Maxwell, a senior teacher from Kitui County.
Politicians seem to be reaping big as Dr Nancy Machaira’s tenure comes to sunset. Many stakeholders in the education sector are reeling in shock at the latest happenings at TSC regarding the blatant issuance of employment forms.
The big question is who is authorising this vice, for what purpose, and when will it stop?
