Abubakar Maalim Shoma, a senior teacher at Waldena Secondary School in Galedyertu Sub-County, Tana River County, is seeking to transition from education to elective politics as he sets his sights on the Galole parliamentary seat in the 2027 General Election.
Shoma, who hails from Wayuboro Village, currently teaches Kiswahili and Islamic Religious Education (IRE), while also handling Arabic as an extra duty.
At Waldena Secondary School, he holds several administrative and mentorship responsibilities, including Head of Department for Languages, Guidance and Counselling, and Clubs and Societies. He also serves as the school’s Muslim patron.
His colleagues and learners know him as an educator involved in both academic and co-curricular activities, with his responsibilities extending beyond classroom teaching to student mentorship and guidance.
Shoma is a graduate of Mount Kenya University’s Mombasa Campus and is pursuing a master’s degree in Leadership and Management.
His background in education and his family’s association with Muslim scholarship have also influenced his involvement in religious and community activities.
With the 2027 General Election approaching, Shoma is now preparing to enter the political arena.
He has expressed interest in contesting for the Galole parliamentary seat on the Wiper Patriotic Front ticket under the Komboa Kenya political platform.
The party, formerly known as the Wiper Democratic Movement, changed its name to Wiper Patriotic Front and is preparing candidates for the August 10, 2027 General Election. The party has invited prospective aspirants to register ahead of the polls. Wiper’s official website confirms that aspirant registration is underway, while IEBC’s Election Operation Plan gives August 10, 2027, as the General Election date.
Seeking Galole parliamentary seat
For Shoma, the move marks a possible new chapter from serving young people in the classroom to seeking an elective leadership role in the wider Galole community.

His political ambitions will now place him among other prospective candidates expected to seek the parliamentary seat as political activity gathers momentum ahead of the 2027 elections.
