Kilgoris MP Julius Sunkuli has accused his Bomachoge Borabu Constituency counterpart, Obadiah Barongo, of an alleged double standard on allocating the proposed Technical and Vocational Training Institute.
Sunkuli claims that he was the one who requested the Cabinet Secretary for Education to establish the institute at the Mabashi location—Kiango, located at the border of Transmara West and Kenyenya, which connects Narok and Kisii Counties, respectively.
He said the institute can provide technical skills to help the youth add value to their lives and act as a buffer zone for the traditionally conflicting communities of Maa and Kisii over cattle rustling and land possession interests.

“I am the one who asked for this facility, but reportedly, my colleague wants it relocated to the Magena market for unknown reasons,” he claimed.
The MP said that during the recent peace meeting between the two communities, led by Cabinet Secretary for Interior Kipchumba Murkomen and his education docket counterpart Julius Ogamba, Bomachoge Borabu MP Obadiah Barongo promised to sponsor football matches for youths from both sides as one way of socializing and pacifying them.
Sunkuli thanked him for the gesture and challenged him to stick to his promise instead of deviating and demanding the construction of the Technical College in his Constituency.
Sunkuli asked the CS for education to intervene and provide direction on the site of the proposed institution.
