A 17-years-old form two student in Lugari aborted an eight months pregnancy and reportedly secretly buried the foetus in a banana plantation
The suspect’s aunt said shewas surprised after she saw the girl without the pregnancy at the weekend.
“When I inquired from her colleagues, I was informed that on Friday while at Mufutu secondary school she started bleeding and eventually collapsed in class,” the aunt said.
The aunt said that after pressing her hard to explain what happened to the pregnancy she disclosed that she had procured an abortion and buried the foetus in a banana plantation.
“I then reported the incident to the local administrators and the area volunteer children officer Lydia Miyawa who exhumed the decomposing foetus and later informed officers from Frank police station about the incident. Police visited the scene and took the foetus with the mother as they launched investigations into the incident.
