Strong winds leave two schools, homes destroyed in Muhoroni, Kisumu

Strong winds and heavy down pour has left two schools and dozens of homes destroyed in Muhoroni Sub-county in Kisumu County, leaving parents and students stranded.

According to the Muhoroni Constituency manager Sospeter Ngere, heavy rain accompanied by strong wind on Thursday, September 25, left huge loss to the community.

He stated that Ngeny Primary School suffered a huge blow as the roofs of 7 classrooms were blown off by the strong winds while in the adjacent Ngeny Secondary School; the winds destroyed the administration block and the school laboratory.

He further confirmed that several trees were also felled during the incident, but no student was injured.
Ngere also revealed that close to 100 homes in Wangowe, Mibasi, Mikiria and Chemelil were also affected.

He is therefore calling for well-wishers and both the national and county governments to move with speed and support the affected community and schools.

This comes amid onset of the examination period which is in due few weeks.
