Stage set for bruising Rugby 7s final between Kisii School and archrivals Cardinal Otunga

Kisii School Rugby Sevens team is set to defend its title after an impressive performance in the semis during the Kisii County Term Two Games at Nduru Boys.

Kisii School, the reigning Kisii County and Nyanza Region champions, secured their spot in the final with an impressive 31-0 victory over Gesero Mixed. In the other semi-final, Cardinal Otunga from Mosocho defeated Itierio 33-5.

In the girls’ category, Nyagichenche and St Anne’s Nyangoge will face off in the final, even though they have already secured spots at the Nyanza regional championships.

In a hard-fought semi-final, Nyangoge emerged victorious against their arch-rivals Rianyanchabera with a score of 10-5. Meanwhile, Nyagichenche secured a narrow 5-0 win over Hema Chitago.

In girls volleyball, the reigning champions Nyakembene are set to face off with Kereri Girls in the semifinals. Meanwhile, Ayora will compete against Kiabigoria. Nyakembene secured a convincing victory over Eramba in straight sets, while Kereri Girls emerged triumphant with a 3-0 win against Kenyenya.

In the quarter-finals, Ayora secured a 3-1 victory over Nyangusu, while Kiabigoria emerged triumphant against Hema Chitago in straight sets.

In the boys category, the favoured Riokindo defeated Metembe by a convincing 3-0 margin, while Mariwa secured a similar set over Gianchere.

In the quarter-finals, Nyabisia secured a convincing 3-0 victory over Eramba, while Itierio Boys caused an upset by defeating Cardinal Otunga with the same margin. As we move to the semifinals, Riokindo will clash with Mariwa, and Nyabisia will go head-to-head with Itierio Boys.

In netball, Kereri Girls secured a spot in the semi-finals with a hard-fought 39-35 victory over defending champions St Peter’s Keberesi. Meanwhile, St Vincent Omwari emerged victorious against Ibacho with a score of 41-25. Ayora overcame Amaiko 39-23, and Itumbe Mixed clinched a close win against Mariwa, finishing with a score of 29-25. In the semifinals, Kereri Girls will compete against Omwari, while Ayora will face off against Itumbe.

In the girls 3×3 basketball, Kereri Girls and St Angela’s Sengera have secured their spots at the Nyanza regional championships by qualifying for today’s final.

In the upcoming final, we’ll witness a rematch of last year’s championship. During the semifinals, Kereri Girls convincingly defeated Igorera with a score of 10-2, while St. Angela’s Sengera faced a tough battle against Sameta Mixed, ultimately prevailing with a 13-9 victory.

In the semifinals, Nyanchwa Boys, the defending champions, will face hosts Nduru Boys, while Kisii School will battle their rival Cardinal Otunga.
