St. Peters Mumias Boys High school hosted the Kakamega Open tournament in which more than 146 teams sourced from Western and Nyanza region participated.
The tournament christened ‘Wamakombo Tourney’ was sponsored by the school’s old boys association (MOBA) and the school chief principal, Cosmas Nabungolo.
The championship which fielded games from various disciplines saw the winner take home trophies and a cash reward.

In football, Friends School Namwela from Bungoma county carried the day after hammering the hosts one-nil.
St. Peters Mumias carried the rugby and lacrosse trophy.
Onjiko Boys High School from Nyanza triumphed in the basketball category.
The hosts emerged the overall winner by garnering a majority of the trophies.
While addressing the players, the school principal thanked the participating teams for taking part in the tournament.
“Sports is no longer a hobby but a well-paying income generating activity. If players observe discipline and shun distractions such as drugs, they can achieve their goals, I challenge you to take sports seriously as it can be a gate pass for scholarships and more,” he added.
The occasion was graced by the King of Nabongo Kingdom, Peter Shitawa Mumia who was the Chief Guest and Dr. Steve Ouko who represented the MOBA members.
